September WaveMaker | Dustin Stoltzfus, Buiding & Grounds Director | While overseeing the many Middle School renovation and improvement projects, he managed countless details, coordinated with the different groups involved, and kept everyone updated along the way. He was able to bring all of the moving pieces together to create a great space for our students. Even with the demands of the renovation, he continued to problem-solve building and grounds issues across the district. His dedication, flexibility, and willingness to step in wherever needed make a tremendous impact on our schools and students.

September WaveMaker | Gionna Fulton, Franklin Student | Gionna goes above and beyond to be kind to all of the students in the class. Gionna was in my class last year and she entered school ready to help guide any new students we have. She is always helping our younger students and loves to help her teachers any chance she gets.

Summer in Motion

The MHS Youth Mini Sports Camps concluded a successful summer season, providing students entering 3rd through 8th grade with opportunities to learn and participate in a wide variety of athletics. Throughout the summer, participants explored 12 different sports. Camps were offered to Mattoon residents at no cost.

Mattoon CUSD #2 officially kicked off preparations for the 2026–27 academic year on Monday, August 10, hosting the Annual Back-to-School Staff Breakfast to bring district educators and support teams back together.
